<b>Gulu loses 1,302 kids</b><br>GULU - The assistant resident district commissioner, Semei Okwir, has said over 1,302 children have been abducted by LRA rebels in the district in the last six months.

GULU - The assistant resident district commissioner, Semei Okwir, has said over 1,302 children have been abducted by LRA rebels in the district in the last six months. Okwir was recently briefing councillors on the security situation in the district at Gulu Council Hall. He said the rebels had killed 131 people, burnt 20 vehicles in road ambushes and injured 100 civilians.

Bishop Drati set to retire
ARUA - The Anglican Bishop of Madi and West Nile Diocese, Dr. Enock Lee Drati, will retire in October next year after attaining the Church of Uganda mandatory retirement age of 65. Drati, who has served the diocese for nine years, has embarked on an early diocesan final confirmation tour to bid farewell to the faithful.

AIDS project aids Lira
LIRA - The Uganda Aids Control Project (ACP) has donated mosquito nets, sugar, rice, posho and blankets to over 150 people living with HIV/AIDS in the district. The district HIV/AIDS focal officer, Alfred Ogwal, said the district HIV/AIDS committee received the donation and handed it to the Diocese of Lango for distribution.

EU member hails Lira
LIRA - The European Union MP, John Van hecke, has hailed the district local government for allocating funds to the Sister Rachelle Rehabilitation Centre areas, saying they are easily accessible to the railway station and the airfield. He was inspecting the progress in the construction work. Ends
