What was supposed to have been a modest launch turned out to be a mini concert!

What was supposed to have been a modest launch turned out to be a mini concert!

Bebe Cool’s sensational single, Tuwagire Gaetano received airplay last Sunday just after Alex’s eviction but hit the audience with a bang that distilled a fiery mood and a tremendous feeling of excitement during its launch at The Venue, last Sunday.

A tantalising dance performance by the Eclipse Dance group of four boys and four sexy young girls set the launching pad for Bebe cool’s heart-throbbing performance. The group pulled off a hearty contemporary choreography, dancing to Wayne Wonders’ sensual song, No letting go and Sean Paul’s invigorating rhythms in Get Busy. But the party had not even started yet and the audience was gripped.

When it was time for him to perform, Bebe Cool held the audience in the palm of his hands with a thrilling love ballad, No wonder why or Ontwalidde Omwoyo, a song that brought out a soulful vocal coiled within his ferocious facade.

Touching his girlfriend’s forehead with occasional strokes, Bebe Cool adopted a melodious tune from his usually harsh growl. His mother, seated next to Zuena, watched with pride.

No Wonder Why is taken off his new album, Burn them Down, yet to be recorded in South Africa in October, under the sponsorship of his new management partnership deal with WBS TV.

He swaggered onto the floor with the confidence of an accomplished artist and then frigging did the unexpected: right in the middle of the song, he asked the DJ to stop, leaving the ecstatic audience suspended! Damn you Bebe! Anyhow, that was some sensual touch.

Guess you made your point all right. We shall have to wait for your new album. It was a sneak preview into his new album that is surely destined for critical acclaim.

As if checking on the potency of his old tricks, he sneaked in little doses of Mwezinire and Funtula (Songs that extolled the virtues in dance-hall music) to which the audience went wild.

The launch at The Venue was turning into an intriguing display of musical flair and comedy as Bebe cool hilariously indulged the visiting nine-member MNET Big brother team from South Africa, into dancing and singing some luganda verses in his popular songs.

He literally harassed one of the ladies from the team with obscene waist movements straight in her face. “Come on Bebe Cool, you should have behaved, mum was around.”

The highlight of the function, as was expected, was Bebe’s performance of Gaetano’s song. The cheesy rhythms, weighty beats, the profane suggestive lyrics of ass..., ass..., ass... arsenal yensingira abalala! Gae, Gae, Gae Gaetano Yansingira abalala! forced Gaetano’s dad, Mum and Wavamuno to take to the floor.

That was naughty, but you are forgiven. It was time to celebrate. Gaetano had once again escaped next Sunday’s bloody Big Brother eviction axe, another big step to the $100,000.

The audience rippled with ecstasy when Bebe was requested to replay the song, which he did with resonance. He asked Elvis Sekyanzi, to dance with Zuwena, his girlfriend and the crowd broke into raucous laughter when Elvis resisted, asking for his wife instead. The launch of Tuwagire Gaetano was a success and could hardly fail to reflect Bebe Cool’s patriotism and creativity.

The song is sure to receive incredible acclaim and not just because it brings out his patriotism but because within it is embedded stimulating dance-hall rhythms.
