THE Central Police Station (CPS) has rescued seven children who have been stranded at the Kampala Bus Park, the CPS division Police commander, Francis Okello said on Tuesday.

He identified the children as Janet Akayo, 5, Agnes Atabo, 7, Christine Amenyo 9, Rosemary Acuru, 11, Grace Apio, 17, and Sarah Alupo aged seven years.

The children, who arrived in Kampala on July 28 from Soroti, got stranded after their auntie, Sekondina Agolo, who sent for them from the village, failed to turn up to pick them.

Okello said Agolo might have sent for them out of concern for their safety, following the infiltration of the rebels in the Teso region recently.

“We have taken them to Women and Children in Crisis Centre, an NGO on Mawanda Road, Kamwokya for shelter as we trace for Agolo,” Okello said.

According to Okello, the children’s aunt, Agolo, lives in Entebbe, their mother is said to have disappeared while their dad is dead.
