Their dance moves are a far cry from the lewd Amanda’s Angels’, which is just as well because their name suggests different. But watching The Sober Royals, an urban contemporary dance outfit, one can not help feeling their presentations are cliched.

The Sober Royals might be sober from nudity and obscenity but they are just as good as the next dance troupe around the corner. They thrive on the exploits of western teen pop groups. That, however, never seemed to matter at last Friday night’s USPA gala at the Victoria Ballroom in Munyonyo.

They were not the only artists on the performance list that night. Whizzo, Jose Chameleon’s kid brother performed, as did Red Banton, Ragga Dee and the man behind the machines-Emperor Orlando.
