MITESH Patel breathed a sigh of relief after orchestrating an upset that saw underdogs Patidar CC beat table leaders Maruti by four runs in a dramatic Castle Lager league tie at Lugogo oval yesterday.
Crowned man-of-match, Mitesh bowled intelligently picking a career best seven wickets for 33 runs in eight overs to guide his side to the third victory of the league.
The medium pace bowler dismissed key batsmen Shah Balkrishina (9), Uday Kavadra (11), Bharat Ghodadra (7) and Richard Okia (11) for ugly scores.
The victory handed Patidar an unwelcome place in the history books and possibly a place in the Super Six stage.
Batting first, Patidar were restricted to a paltry 84 runs all out after failing a lethal bowling assault of Okia who bagged six wickets in 7.5 overs.
The desire to overhaul the score left Maruti pondering at the second defeat after one infront of Tornado last Sunday.
At Kyambogo oval, Solomon Sseruga (51n.o) propelled Africa to a nine wicket victory over Kutchhi Madu in a game that ended before lunch.
John Mpande and Sylvester Rokani picked five wickets each to limit the opponents to 97 all out a score ACC overhauled with 30.2 overs at hand.
