Seven Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels were recently killed and seven guns recovered by the UPDF and the Arrow Group at Aparisa Primary School, north of Soroti.

The rebels were killed after they raided Atirir health centre and looted drugs. They also abducted a health worker, whose whereabouts are still unknown.

Arrow Group commander for Soroti Capt. Sam Otai said the drugs that were looted were also recovered.

“We are still checking the area to find out whether some of the injured rebels had hidden,” Otai said.

He said the rebels attacked the area, broke into four shops and looted some sugar and food.

Arrow Group coordinator and state minister for health, Capt. Mike Mukula, said arrangements were being made to transport the bodies to Soroti town.

“We want the bodies brought here so that the community appreciates the efforts being made by the UPDF and the Arrow Group,” Mukula said.

He said it was a very big achievement and a clear warning to LRA boss Joseph Kony that Teso region was not a safe haven for rebellion.

Otai said the rebel remnants who escaped were pursued towards Achuna trading centre in the northern part of Soroti.
