40% Fail In Teacher Exams

A total of 4,367 (nearly 40%) candidates have failed the 2003 Grade 3 Primary Teachers’ Colleges Examinations .
Releasing the results the Minister of State for Primary Education, Namirembe Bitamazire, cautioned that candidates whose results have been cancelled shall be disqualified and discontinued.
“Such candidates are blacklisted and can never register to train as teachers in any college in the country,” she said.
Sixteen candidates had their examinations cancelled due to malpractice, the Vice-Chancellor, Kyambogo University, Prof. Lutalo Bbosa, said.

She told The New Vision that most failures seem to be from part-time students. She said there are licensed teachers who taught and at the same time attended lessons on weekends and holidays under the Teacher Development and Management Support.
