UGANDA overshadowed Kenya and Tanzania in the East Africa Weightlifting championship at Mandela Sports Hotel on Saturday.
The Ugandans amassed 335 and 138 points in the men and women categories respectively to win the coveted titles.

Moses Kimbowa (62kg), Ismail Katamba (56kg) led the home side’s run to victory in the fiercely contested regional meet.

Kimbowa also showed that his recent triumph in the Eleiko Dragon Open in Cardiff was no fluke.

Despite a false attempt at 90kg, the Ugandan captain returned to snatch 100kg. He went further to win a gold medal in the 110kg clean and jerk event.
