Kampala City Council (KCC) secretary for education and sports Florence Bagunywa Nkalubo has said the council plans to meet President Yoweri Museveni to respond to his complaints about Universal Primary Education (UPE) in the district, reports James Bakunzi.
“We need to meet with the President so that we can explain to him what KCC has been doing,” she told The New Vision at the weekend.
Museveni recently blamed KCC for demanding money from parents under UPE.
Nkalubo said some people were misinforming Museveni about KCC’s efforts in UPE.
“Nobody is trying to sabotage the UPE programme. We welcomed it and we thank the President for being vigilant in trying to promote education for all. We are all behind him,” she said.
