Officiating at the opening of the Mbale Appropriate Technology Centre (ATC) at Malukhu district headquarters on saturday, Wood said, “Appropriate technologies being developed are economical and very important to the rural areas of Uganda.â€
He visited Manyenya primary school in Busoba sub-county and opened a 30,000-litre underground water tank which was built by Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW). SPW has also set up a similar centre at Makerere University under the directorship of Dr. Moses Musaazi.
Mbale LC5 chairman, Bernard Mujasi, said his local government would maintain the project to serve its residents.
The state minister for works Michael Werikhe, in a speech read by his wife Joyce, said appropriate technology would reduce unemployment and improve livelihood. ends
