SOROTI — The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, has urged the Iteso not to indulge in rebellion but be security conscious and support development. He said this during his one-week tour of Teso Muslim districts recently. Mubajje told them to be friendly to the Government. On his tour of Kotido and Moroto districts, the Mufti swore in Sheik Abila as new Khadi of Soroti district.

Museveni thanks trader
SOROTI — President Yoweri Museveni has commended a potato dealer in Teso for acquiring and renovating Soroti hotel to a reputable standard. Isiagi also owns Green Top hotel, Kumi. “I used to stay here when this hotel was still under the Uganda Hotels Limited. But the rooms were very tiny and not up to standard,” Museveni told Teso leaders on Monday. He said he was happy to find that other new buildings had been constructed. “This is what we mean by development. I am extremely happy with this work,” Museveni said.

Teso leaders meet on LRA
SOROTI — Kasese RDC Musa Ecweru has called on all Teso leaders to forget their political differences and unite to route out LRA rebels of Joseph Kony. Ecweru was speaking to the leaders who were at Soroti Hotel recently to meet President Yoweri Museveni to discuss ways of eliminating the LRA in Teso. Ecweru said in the times of crisis, differences had to be placed aside to fight a common enemy. Ecweru urged the youth to join the militia, Arrow Group, to fight the rebels. Civilians.
