THE Coca-Cola schools cricket week has produced an all Busoga final.

Eight-time winners Busoga College Mwiri marched past the challenge of Kololo, to get a chance to snatch what they consider their title. Jinja SSS are defending champions.

The two schools proved their potentials by outclassing their opponents during the semi-finals yesterday. Today’s final is set for Lugogo.

Mwiri beat Old Kampala by 48 runs to continue their unbeaten tournament record in a match that was tension packed.

No school had chased a target of 100 runs to win at Lugogo, and when Mwiri batted first and put on 115 , there was hope for the ‘kings of the game’, Dennis Musali (25) and David Mutalya (19) top scored for them.

At 65/5 in 15 overs, Mwiri started feeling the heat, but called on years of top flight experience to win the day.

Old Kampala had no answer to a polished bowling performance from Mwiri seamers Timothy Bbuye and David Kateyenge, who dismissed the stubborn resistance by Andrew Okurut (14) and Alpesh Dhanji (8).

At Kyambogo, all-rounder Issanez Emmanuel bowled tight and stroked an unbeaten 38 runs to guide Jinja SSS to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over charging Kololo High.

The defending champions limited Kololo to a paltry 73/10, a score they over hauled with seven overs to spare.

The final promises thrills as the two rivals meet for the first time at this level.

Mwiri however have a psychological advantage , having beaten Jinja SSS by 66 runs in their Super Six encounter.

The tournament ends tomorrow with a selected school’s XI taking on the Chairman’s XI before the prize giving ceremony.
