Ugandan hip-hop artists have objected towards what they term as “sidelining” in the upcoming inaugural Pearl of Africa Awards (PAM) slated for October 4, at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.

Lyrical G, whose rap song East African Party is burning up charts on urban radio termed the nomination as “uninformed”. “How can we have Burn Them Down (by Bebe Cool) in the Best hip-hop Single category? This is not fair,” said Lyrical G.

Two categories (Best Hip-Hop Single and Best Hip-Hop Artist) were dedicated to the genre. Klear Kut was the only rap act to appear in the eight nominations.
