POLICE recently burst a racket involving city business people making and selling fake paint. The paint was being sold as products of Sadolin Paints (Uganda) Limited.

POLICE recently burst a racket involving city business people making and selling fake paint. The paint was being sold as products of Sadolin Paints (Uganda) Limited.

According to the deputy supritendant of Police, Mr. L.D. Ngobi, the suspects were arrested last week from Hardware 2000 Discount Centre adjacent to Nakasero market. This was after detectives posed as buyers.

He identified the suspects as Florence Mayanja, 40, Evelyn Galabuzi, 38, Hajati Lukiya Nabunya, 32, and Ronald Kakeeto, 37.

Ngobi said they recovered 100 litres of emulsion paints, 12 litres of gloss paint and several empty tins and jerricans.

Chris Nugent, Sadolin managing director, has confirmed that the paint was fake after carrying out tests.

Nugent said Hardware 2000 are not among the company’s authorised dealers. He said several of their customers have fallen victim by buying these counterfeit paint.
