Can Gaetano be a celebrity?

SIR — Who is a celebrity?<br>Can somebody out there help me understand who a celebrity is and the qualities that make somebody a celebrity? According to Ugandan standards, I have failed to understand the meaning of the word, if somebody begins calling a man like Gaetano a celebrity.

Can somebody out there help me understand who a celebrity is and the qualities that make somebody a celebrity? According to Ugandan standards, I have failed to understand the meaning of the word, if somebody begins calling a man like Gaetano a celebrity.
If a man who defamed our country in Big Brother Africa house by allegedly having sex on TV is a celebrity, then I get tempted to begin calling the likes of Kony and Bin laden celebrities too, because it looks like the word is just based on notoriety and not on moral uprightness.
