A lot of hullabaloo has been made on a media-created person by the names of Gaetano Jjuuko Kaggwa. What is amusing is the way the Ugandan public has been excited to meet a person that means absolutely nothing to them. When you ask anybody what achievement Gaetano has to show, nobody seems to have an answer. They only tell you that he did not make it to the $100,000 prize. The next thing you hear is that he put up a good performance in the Big Brother House in an affair he had with a South African housemate followed by live sex on TV. Is there anything worthwhile here? Or is there anything so Ugandan to feel proud of as an exemplary performance by our Ugandan “ambassador†to BBA? I believe there are better celebrities worth the designation. I agree with Mr Tim Lwanga, the ethics and integrity minister, that the fuss around Gaetano’s homecoming is a creation of the media for the sake of making money and the curiosity of idlers.
