A strong field of 50 Kenyan darts players arrived yesterday for the Uganda International Open championship this weekend.
“We are here for nothing shot of victory. We want to thrash them,†Kenya Darts Association chairman Eston Njau told The New Vision. Top seed and three-time Kenyan champion Robert Girigacha leads the Kenyan contingent.
A top prize of sh0.5m will be at stake in the event sponsored by Makerere University’s Club Five and National Council of Sports (NCS).
Uganda’s top seed “Big†John Opio and Teenage sensation Ronald Kalete will spearhead the Ugandan challenge at Ramugarhia Singh Club at Lugogo tomorrow.
Others in the Ugandan team are Patrick Kateregga, Richard Jjingo, Saulo Mukasa, Alex Ojera, Patrick Ochieng, Okema Ochan and Okello Steel. URA’s Olive Begomba will lead the charge in the women category that includes Lilian Amma, Sarah Kizito, Rose Malinga, Hamis Mukiibi and Vicky Ngarambe.
