THE Uganda Law Society (ULS) has formed a five-member committee to review the 1977 Advocates Professional Conduct Regulations which bars them from any form of advertising and discussing the law in the media.

The committee was named on Saturday during a ULS meeting at the organisation’s offices at Kamwokya, Kampala.

The committee is headed by Moses Adriko. Other members include Erias Lukwago, Ernest Kalibbala, Midred Nasiwa and Hebert Dushabe.

The meeting was convened after a recent directive by the Law Council banning lawyers from discussing legal issues in public debates.

The Law Council directive was provoked after Lukwago participated in radio talk-shows.
