WILSON Kipkimei would with a little more effort have pocketed $3000 (about sh6m) from the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Kipkimei, who nevertheless helped Uganda win a $3000 team prize, finished nine places away from the individual cash prizes.

The Ugandan was 15th in the 21.192km race won by Martin Lel. Alex Malinga was the second Ugandan in 21st position.

Martin Toroitich was 43rd, Francis Yiga was 63rd while Jafred Lorone, who was vomiting two days before the race struggled to finish 100th.
