THE Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has called for an inquiry into President Yoweri Museveni’s recent allegations that some medical doctors exhibit unethical conduct when handling army officers and Movement cadres.

Museveni said in a statement on Sunday that one doctor declared dead an army officer who was only slightly injured.

He said another doctor wanted to amputate an army officer who had a minor injury on the leg.

UPC Presidential Policy Commission chairman James Rwanyarare said this during the weekly press briefing yesterday.

“Museveni said some doctors administer poisons or harmful substances to their patients, which is against the internationally recognised Hippocratic Oath.

If Museveni can produce the evidence of a doctor who wanted to amputate a normal leg of his soldier to the Uganda Medical Council, that doctor’s practice certificate would be cancelled and charges preferred against him,” said Rwanyarare.

Museveni’s remarks followed criticism in which a presidential jet was used to take his daughters to give birth in Germany.
