NEW YORK – Madonna has made the transition from sex goddess to doyen of children’s literature.
According to her publisher, The English Roses, Madonna’s first attempt at a family friendly book, will top the next New York Times’ best-seller list for children’s picture books, selling 57,369 copies
in the U.S. in its first week in stores. The book is a 48-page, illustrated tale about a clique of four girls, the English Roses, who torment a smart, beautiful, but ultimately misunderstood classmate named Binah, and is said to be based on Madonna’s delving into the Kabbalah texts of Jewish mysticism. The book is the first of five children’s planned by the famous singer and 45-year-old mother of two.
