‘General Parts’ Defends Self Today

HAJJI Haruna Ssemakula, the proprietor of General Parts Uganda Ltd, was scheduled to start his defence yesterday in a trespass case.
Middle North Agencies, has sued Ssemakula over a prime industrial plot in the city. Ssemakula is also accused of breaking the windscreen of Patrick Muheirwoha’s car, an employee of Shumuk Group of Companies. The court heard that the disputed Plot 26 on Mukaabya Road was previously Plot M459 Industrial Area
Nakawa Court Grade One magistrate J.B. Byarugabaha ruled last week there was overwhelming evidence against the accused.
Ssemakula’s lawyer Moses Kugumikiriza told court his client was ready to start his defence, but the State prosecutor, Andrew Gawaya, called for an adjournment. Gawaya said he had many cases for the day. Hearing of the case was fixed for yesterday and today.
Ssemakula said his defence witnesses include Kampala Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito, High Court Judge Lameck Mukasa, former Kampala Town Clerk Patrick Makumbi and the land transaction lawyer Protasio Ayigihugu.
