ABOUT 100 street children were vaccinated against measles in Kampala district last week, reports Marriam Nalunkuuma

The exercise was led by the Uganda Junior League (UJL) and the Kampala City Council.

UJL coordinator Charles Sendagire told The New Vision on Saturday that more than 200 street children and others from the Lugogo camp for the internally displaced had been immunised.

“We mobilised street children for friendly matches with our UJL players, gave them soft drinks, T-shirts and balls before asking them to be vaccinated,” Sendangire said.

Sendagire said the exercise was successfully carried out in Lugogo, Nateete, Kisenyi, Luzira, Kibuye, Kabalagala, Kamwokya, and Bukasa areas.

The district supervisor in the Ministry of Health, Patrick Turyaguma, said, “We mobilised street children through their leaders and local authorities, who cooperated with our nurses for the success of this exercise. He said they immunised children at the Luggo IDP camp.
