SEVERAL leaders have asked President Yoweri Museveni to discipline industry state minister Jennifer Namuyangu, for disrespecting Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala.
Namuyangu was quoted as criticising Wamala for opposing the third term for the President.
Kampala Archdiocese laity head Robert Ssempa said, “We represent the people in Kampala Archdiocese and if we supported the Cardinal, Namuyangu should know that she is treading on very dangerous ground.â€
Ssempa said Namuyangu was “a mere minister appointed for a given period who could be fired tomorrow.â€
He said the minister did not only offend the Cardinal but all Catholics.
Reform Agenda vice chairman Sam Njuba said Namuyangu’s remarks were uncalled for because the Cardinal spoke in his individual capacity.
Njuba said, “Even if he spoke as a bishop, her remarks were very dis-respective of elders and they show how rotten our society is.
Mengo minister for education John Muyingo advised Namuyangu to always “think twice before uttering sweeping statements.â€
