Wisdom teeth are the last molars on each side of the jaws. They are also the last teeth to emerge –– usually when a person is between 16 and 20 years old. Since they are the last teeth to grow, there is often not enough room in the mouth to accommodate them. This can lead to wisdom teeth that are impacted –– trapped beneath the gum tissue and between other teeth, which may lead to swelling.
How Wisdom teeth are removed. Your dentist will recommend either going to sleep first or using anesthesia. Some pain, bleeding or fever may occur. If this continues, call your dentist.
