Beasts from the Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area have caused panic in Kicwamba sub-county, Bunyaruguru, in Bushenyi district.
Leopards and Lions have since October 13 made several attacks especially in Kyenzaza villages injuring two people and killing several domestic animals and birds.
“We go to bed by 7:00pm and fear to come out before 7:00am. this is like having curfew,†Naboth Beinomugisha said.
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) spokesperson Barbara Musoke said in a phone interview, “The LCs and chiefs have warned the residents of those villages not to bring out domestic animals and birds because they attract the wild animals.â€
She said the law that governs wildlife conservation areas in the country does not allow rearing of domestic animals and birds in villages within the areas and surrounding areas.
