THE Police in Gulu are investigating Pabbo sub-county officials over the arrest and detention of two internally displaced women who allegedly boycotted the measles immunisation exercise.
The acting district police commander, Daniel Gulu Okumu, said the Police were investigating grounds of the arrest, adding that it is illegal for the councillors to arrest and detain suspects.
The acting LC3 chairperson, Marcelino Tokuma, said Mary Adong and Cecilia Adok were arrested for hiding their children, claiming the vaccine would render them impotent.
He said the councillors broke into some teachers' houses who tried to hide children from being immunised.
Meanwhile, Gulu district secretary for health Joyce Santa Laker said 85% of the children in the district were immunised during the one-week exercise.
Laker, however, said Pabbo and Lakwan sub-counties had registered a low turn. She said the exercise would be extended in the two sub-counties.
