WITH the regular 2003 MTN Basketball season coming to an end, the races for the three separate zones are intensifying as the count down closes.

The 2003 Playoff zone
KIU
They have proved to be the better team in the league after achieving 10 straight wins in the first round of their debut season.

Falcons
Coach John Ssimbwa has kept the faith with the Falcons whose 15 wins, 3 losses has pulled them from sixth to second position on the table.

Sadolin Power
Have vowed not to repeat last year’s playoff mistakes and are so far struggling to stay in the playoff region.

Warriors
Surprised everyone when they made a steady climb to second place before being displaced by Falcons.

Charging Rhinos
The 1997 champions will continue to get dividends from the youngsters they have been grooming the past years. The team has never failed to make the playoffs and this season they are hoping to maintain this record.

Nkumba-Marines
Last chance for the Entebbe team to show that they are playoff material. They will face off with KIU in a determining match as to whether they make the 2003 playoffs or not.

Elevation Zone
Kololo Bush Court
The team was relegated last season after they failed to participate in the qualifying tournament. Bush Court has for six years failed to make it to the elite teams. That could change this season.
No-Nem
After leading the second division table for the whole of first round, No-Nem has finally succumbed to second place on the table.
Vegetarians and Najja High teams are also in the race for elevation.

Relegation Zone
Within the relegation zone, 3 teams from the first division will be demoted so as to balance the ten- team league in the 2004 season. Those three teams could be Sharing, Livingstone and Miracle.
