NATIONAL champions Chills & Meals darts club face a stiff challenge to defend the inter-club knockout tournament at Klub Five in Makerere next weekend.

Team captain Johnson Sendagala said his Gaba-based side is “sharpening up its target”.

“We are aware of the challenge but we are working hard,” he said yesterday. Lugazi, Galaxy and URA are among the other top contenders expected in the two-day event due November 1.

Uganda Darts Association (UDA) chairman Gordon Bamutura said the over 30 clubs are expected in the meet.

Lira Galaxy sounded a major warning by sweeping to victory in the UDA Open in Apac last Sunday.

Steel Okello and Pule Mackmot were inspirational as the northern outfit earned victory in the singles in main and T-charts categories respectively.

To clinch victory in the main chart, Okello who refused to yield to Kampala gurus, stopped Apac’s Justin Oloi 4-3 while Mackmot edged Mackmot Odwe 3-2 in the T-chart.

The duo remained supreme as they also helped their side bag the Abili memorial trophy in the team game.
