THE new Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) executive will launch its activities when the body’s committees present their work plans today.

Federation chairman Enock Barumba said the committees formed recently will present their plans at Lugogo.

The committees include those on finance, technical, the development and fundraising matters.
One of the issues to be addressed is the second round of the national league.

The first round ended last month with Mulago on top, Luzira in second position and Aviation third with 28 points, 26 points and 24.5 points respectively.

The league will be coordinated by the technical committee that is also responsible for other competitions of the federation.

Barumba, an officer with Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), was elected last month. He succeeded Stanbic Bank’s Daniel Nsibambi who took office in 1999.

Nsibambi did not seek re-election after completing a two-term in office as stipulated by the federation constitution.

Today’s meeting expected to last until late afternoon will start at 11.00am.
