By William Muwonge PINTO Ssali outwitted William Mbowa 16-14 in the Yakobo pool cup final to claim a sh1m award at the weekend. Skilled player Ssali took two vital sets after a 14-14 tie to triumph at Yakobo Joint in Ntinda. The final was a see-saw affair before Ssali’s skills prevailed. Mbowa, who for the first time reached the final of a competitive event, had tied at 13-13, 10-10 and 5-5 with his rival. Ssali, last year’s quarter-finalist was rewarded like Mbowa who got sh500,000. Before the final, last year’s winner Moses Kiggundu beat Moses Mukasa 11-5 in the third-fourth play-off match. Kiggundu walked away with sh200,000 while Mukasa earned sh100,000. Nicholas Callund, the proprietor of Yakobo Joint, the sponsors and organisers of the event, gave away the awards. The competition that started last month drew over 80 players. Ends
