SIMON Mutama surpassed a pack of 10 contestants to win the sh8m worth 43 inch state of the art LG television during the ultimate draws of the Bell Lager 2003 rugby World cup Lucky tries competition.

The jubilant 27-year-old, Australian rugby fan beat a pool of participants in the one-month promotion competition that climaxed on Saturday.

With the World Cup tournament in Melbourne getting to the finals, Mutama now holds his chance of watching his side play in the finals due next week.

“This is unbelievable. It presents me with a perfect chance of watching the final on a flat fluid crystal screen,” said Mutama, who walked off with the set fully connected with a DSTV and one month’s subscription.

Bell Lager, household sponsors of the national league, Uganda Cup and the national 7s circuit have supported the promotion that was geared towards bringing about more rugby awareness in the country.

Uganda Breweries public relations manager Winston Agaba re-affirmed that the company was in position of stretching its sponsorship pedigree into Ugandan rugby. “We have done it with the players and thought it wise to reward the fans as well in equal measure,” said Winston.

England captain Martin Johnson praised match-winner Jonny Wilkinson after the 24-7 win over France.

England’s victory in Sydney booked them a berth in the Rugby World Cup final.
