THE Church of Uganda (COU) has cut relations with the American Anglican Church following the consecration of an openly gay bishop.

“The COU cuts her relationship and communion with the Episcopal Church of the US (ECUSA) on their resolution and consequent action of consecrating and enthroning an openly confessed homosexual, Gene Robinson, as Bishop of New Hampshire Diocese in the Anglican Communion,” the House of Bishops said on Saturday.

“We deplore, abhor and condemn in the strongest possible terms the resolution of ECUSA to consecrate Gene Robinson and all other resolutions related to the ordination of homosexuals and blessing of same sex unions,” the 30-member House said in a resolution singed by the Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo (right).

At the end of a three-day meeting at Lweza, the Bishops said Robinson’s consecration had negative consequences to the Church.
