GOLF has been revived in Masaka after a lull of 21 years.

Action will be at the Tropic Inn golf course, formerly under Masaka Sports Club. The course, upgraded from 9 holes to 18, is owned by a renown dentist George Samula.
Samula, also proprietor of Tropic Inn adjacent to the course, is realising a plan that started in March.

The course, neglected after the late military ruler Idi Amin expelled the Indians and British in 1972, will be ready next month.

Veteran golfer and course designer Daniel Nkata is doing the construction work on the course to be launched on November 29.

“I am making final touches on the course, the greens, tees are in place,” Nkata said. “But there is still work to do on the fairways,” he added.
