Muhanguzi ordained Ankole North bishop

THE Rev. Canon John Muhanguzi was on Sunday consecrated the first Bishop of North Ankole Diocese.

The ceremony at St. Emmanuel Cathedral Rushere, Nyabushozi, in Mbarara district was attended by President Yoweri Museveni and was conducted by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo.

He was assisted by the Archbishop elect, Rt. Rev. Henry Orombi. Archbishop Paul Bakyenga of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mbarara attended.

North Ankole Diocese was curved out off East Ankole Diocese and Rev. Canon Muhanguzi was elected bishop in July by the House of Bishops.

The President advised the new bishop to work closely with political leaders in the diocese to diversify people’s sources of wealth.

President Museveni donated sh10m to the diocese to start an income generating project of their choice.
