THE Lincoln International School charity run yesterday attracted over 200 participants at Lubowa off Entebbe road.

Among the runners, in the race to help fund projects that help AIDS orphans, was US ambassador Jimmy Kolker.

The money raised from the participants will fund ‘Operation School Fees’, a project of Reach Out, Mbuya Parish.

The project helps children from over 800 HIV affected families with school fees and thus enables them to continue their education.

The first race which covered 10 kilometres, was closely contested and attracted 101 athletes that included children, men and women. It was run right across the school premises.

The second race that covered five kilometres, also attracted over 100 participants.

Stanbic Bank, the main sponsors of the annual event, handed over a sh3.4m cheque to Reach Out project coordinator Margrethe Juncker.

Other sponsors included Adrift, Alleygators, Blue Mango, Coca Cola, Duty Free, Nile Breweries, New Vision, Off Road, Rwenzori Water, Ssisa Shooting Club and Shoprite, all of whom have contributed in kind.

The total amount raised from the charity run will be known this week.

British High Commissioner Adam Wood, handed out medals, certificates to all winners in the various categories.
