RALLY ace Riyaz Kurji posted the quickest time of 3 minutes 19 seconds to win the exciting ‘champion of champions’ sprint at Lubiri yesterday.
Riyaz, driving a Mitsubishi Evo 7, won a sh2m bet with counterpart Ponsiano Lwakataka.
Omar Mayanja, left trailing in Riyaz’s dust as hundreds of fans cheered, settled for second position, in 3 minutes 20.07 seconds. Dipu Ruparelia finished third .
Dembe Rally team’s Kuku Ranjit (Subaru Impreza) beat old foe Lwakataka to settle for fifth position.
National champion Moses Lumala lost out after he rolled.
Charles Muhangi was guest participant and thus could not be crowned winner despite clocking the best time of 3:17.00.
