NATIONAL Council of Sports (NCS) has received a donation of sports equipment worth 1000 pounds (sh3.3m).

Ajaz Karim, the national sports co-ordinator for Uganda abroad handed over the equipment to NCS acting general secretary Justin Ligyalingi at Lugogo yesterday.
The offer included tennis rackets, hockey sticks and cricket helmets.

Karim, a United Kingdom based Ugandan-born Asian solicited for the equipment under the Uganda Charity Trust which he heads.

“There is much talent among children but they have few resources. The objective of the charity is to advance the education and development of disadvantaged children in Uganda and the neighbouring countries through provision of sporting facilities and training,” Karim said.

NCS will distribute the equipment to relevant sports associations.
