Uganda may not be counted as yet among the big boys of world rugby, but for the last two weeks in Dubai, and for this weekend in South Africa, the 7s team will be right up there, playing with the big boys.
“Whatever anybody might like to say, we are playing rugby on the international stage right now, right up there with the best in the world,†Uganda Rugby Union chairman, Paul Sigombe, said. “It is a tremendous step for rugby in Uganda, and no one can deny it.â€
The Rugby Cranes are fresh from the IRB Sevens series in Dubai where they managed two wins.
They get another chance in South Africa this weekend, where the second round of the IRB Sevens takes place. South Africa leads with 20 points, followed by New Zealand 16.
