By Savio Kyambadde MBS Fruit Agencies Limited, the producers of Romi wine and whisky have resumed production after closure by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on November 21. The company located in Sembule zone, Wankulukuku along Bunamwaya road had refused UNBS inspectors to enter the factory. UNBS’s executive director Dr. Terry Kahuma allowed the factory to resume production after MBS officials rectified some of the shortfalls which were identified. The shortfalls are contained in a confidential report which is before the state minister for trade, Jennifer Namuyangu. Kahuma said the closure was due to the harsh treatment his inspectors received when they wanted to inspect the factory. He said nine other companies in a similar business were inspected and not closed. “You can resume production but cooperate with us and follow the guidelines we have made for you,†he said. Ends
