FORMER 4th Division commander Col. John Mugume has said he partially completed his task of battling the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels during his tenure.
Mugume, who President Yoweri Museveni dropped during the recent army reshuffle, was speaking at a hand-over ceremony at Achol Pii Division headquarters in Pader district recently.
He handed over his office to the 5th Division commander, Lt. Col. Etyang, who had been the division’s operations and training officer.
“I have tried my best to do all I could to make the army under my command a disciplined one than I found it,” Mugume said.
The army Chief Political Commissar, Brig. Kalle Kaihura, hailed Mugume for his commitment to protecting the country.
Senior officers escorted Mugume out of the headquarters aboard a chopper.

Several high ranking UPDF officers, including the deputy Chieftaincy of Military Intelligent, Maj. Joseph Musanyufu, Operation Iron Fist coordinator for north Lt. Col. Otema Awany, attended the colourful ceremony.Ends
