French Don To Launch Buganda CD

A Buganda music CD will be launched today as part of the celebrations to mark the Beat That Drum traditional music festival at the National Theatre auditorium, reports <b>Denis Jjuuko.</b>
A Buganda music CD will be launched today as part of the celebrations to mark the Beat That Drum traditional music festival at the National Theatre auditorium, reports Denis Jjuuko.
The CD, titled ‘Music of Buganda People’, was produced by Prof. Jean-Jacques Nattiez of the University of Montreal, Canada.
Nattiez is one of the founders of music semiotics. It was recorded in June 2002 at Ocora recording label in France. Ocora is known worldwide as a label for top traditional music. Dr Sylvia Nannyonga Tamusuza, a senior lecturer of Music at Makerere University with whom Prof. Nattiez worked, will launch the CD.
The festival kicks off at 4:00p.m.
