A housewife residing in Ndeeba let out a loud wail when she discovered her husband had bought a new mattress and burnt the old one, without informing her about it.
Ssemukutu, a milk vendor and husband of the woman, bought a six-inch mattress, from Crest Foam industries which he put on to his bicycle and rode home.
“Bannange tuwonye ebiku,” (My friends, we no longer have to deal with bed bugs)he said, as he poured paraffin over the mattress, before setting it a blaze.
His wife, who works as a tailor came home in the evening and when Semukutu told her the ‘good news,’ she wailed on the top of her voice, attracting a large crowd.
She later told the her husband that he had burnt all the money she had been saving and stashing away in the old mattress.
