THE Belgian crew of Gerard Marcy and co-driver Dan Erculisse in a Ford Escort were leading the East African Safari rally that gets to Uganda today.
Kenyan Rob Collinge (Peugeot 504) who was flagged off first had dropped to second after the second day of the nine-day rally.
Michelle Mouton the first woman to win a world championship had returned to action after being sidelined by suspension problems on day one.
“It has been exactly like the ‘real’ Safari, just as tough and great sections. It’s been great today,†Mouton said. Cars are expected to arrive at Kololo Airstrip at 3.30pm and refuel at Kobil, the local sponsors.
