The New Vision ‘design an ad’ children competition was concluded on Saturday when three winners received various presents ranging from sh1m cash prizes to Colgate herbal tooth paste.

Stella Magambo, 11, a primary six pupil of City Parents, received the first prize of sh500,000.

Magambo said she would pay sh50,000 as a Church tithe and open up an account with the balance in Barclays Bank.

Other winners were Jonnah Luswata, 11, of Kampala Parents and Rosemary Luyigo, 13, of Lwadda Church of Uganda primary school. The two got sh300,000 and sh200,000 respectively.

In addition the children got various prizes from the four sponsors namely Bata, MTN, Colgate Palmolive and Shell Uganda Limited.

The New Vision managing director, William Pike, handed over the presents in the presence of Sarah Kahangi, the paper’s deputy marketing manager, at the head offices in Industrial Area.

Pike said children who read newspapers were more likely to succeed in academics and in life, saying newspapers help them develop their mind to make informed decisions.
