Mukasa named

HENRY Mukasa, a New Vision political reporter, was on Wednesday elected the chairman of the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association.

Mukasa, who was elected unopposed, replaced Peter Okello Jabweli, formerly of The New Vision, who is now the principal public relations officer of the Electoral Commission.

Wakiso gives

THE LC5 chairman of Wakiso district, Ian Kyeyune, has said they will contribute funds to develop Buganda Kingdom programmes.

Kyeyune was on Wednesday addressing central region district leaders at Jokas Hotel in Kireka.

Old man jailed

The General court martial has sentenced a 73-year-old man, who confessed to owning a gun, to six months imprisonment.

Lt. Gen Elly Tumwine sentenced John Bahondere yesterday after he pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm.

Defiler charged

A man was yesterday charged with defiling a 17-year-old girl, formerly a student of Kasubi Secondary School.

Self-employed Juma Musazi, 20, who appeared before the Kampala City Council court magistrate Deborah Wanume, was not allowed to enter a plea because the case can only be tried by the High Court.
