After winning the USPA sportsman award for the month of November, Sam Obol went ahead to lift the MVP trophy in the men’s category.

Obol successfully dethroned teammate Henry Malinga of the prestigious title when he led the Falcons to their fourth title and second back-to-back championship.

Isaac Afidra of Kampala International University reached another milestone in his basketball career scooping the 2003 men’s top scorer award.

Afidra, who is the reigning basketballer of the year 2002, did not give Obol a chance at the scorers list even after his team failed to make it to the finals.

MUK-Sparks’ Florence Akello scooped two individual awards and the 2003 league championship title, Thursday at the 2003 basketball awards night.

Akello lifted the 2003 women’s MVP and top scorer trophies handed over to her by Rita Okuthe, the MTN Marketing manager and guest of honour at the crowning ceremony at the Pool Court.

The basketball fete that was sponsored by MTN and organised by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association-FUBA, witnessed the crowning of outstanding players in the basketball league.

Christine Amongi of the Lady Bucks and Steve Mugisha of No-Nem were crowned as the most disciplined players while Fred Sekajja scooped the title of best supporter.

MTN Marketing Manager Rita Okuthe promised continued support for the sport with plans of going further outside Kampala.
