Drunkard drinks drip water at Mulago

There was drama at Mulago Hospital recently. A man who had been picked from the roadside dead drunk and admitted to the hospital regained consciousness, drank the water in the drip and sauntered away!

There was drama at Mulago Hospital recently. A man who had been picked from the roadside dead drunk and admitted to the hospital regained consciousness, drank the water in the drip and sauntered away!
The drunkard, only identified as Mugamba, fainted after drinking for a whole night on an empty stomach in Katanga slums. When his friends found him lying down and foaming at the mouth they rushed him to Mulago where a drip was immediately administered. When he came to and realised he was in hospital, he asked the nurses what was happening.
When he got no answer, he begged one of the nurses to help him with some drinking water. But the nurse told him that the doctor had instructed her not to give him any water.
When the thirst became intolerable, Mugamba stretched his free hand, removed the drip bottle from its hook and swallowed the saline stuff without breathing. He proceeded to remove the injection from his arm and declare that the was not in the right place.
He gingerly climbed down the bed and started staggering towards the exit. Efforts by paramedic students to stop him fell on deaf ears.
He walked back to Katanga where he felt more comfortable. He left patients and their attendants in amused shock and pity.
