THE Inspector General of Government (IGG), Jotham Tumwesigye, has said the fight against corruption in the country has registered success despite turbulent moments.

Tumwesigye said the institution faced numerous problems like lack of cooperation from the public.

He said this on Monday at the IGG end-of-year party at Hotel Africana, Kampala.

“Sometimes our investigations would almost capsize but we could manage to go through. People are now understanding us and our balance sheet against corruption is positive,” Tumwesigye said.

He said they have opened up 10 regional offices to serve three to five districts.

Tumwesigye said, “The fight against corruption should not be left for the IGG because it cannot be a one man’s responsibility.”

He appealed to the staff to adhere to ethical standards to make IGG impressive, respected and held in high esteem.

Tumwesigye awarded certificates of recognition to hardworking members.
