AcclAimed reggae artiste Shaggy who jetted in Monday morning promises fireworks this Wednesday.

Shaggy is known for such big hits such as Oh Carolina, Hey Sexy Lady, It Wasn’t Me, Mr Boombastic, Why Me Lord, Angel and piece of My Heart.

“We have been working on a new album and now it is ready. We gonna play some big stuff off it,” Shaggy promised soon after arrival at Munyonyo. “Expect more women and sex off the new album,” he warned.

“It is my pleasure to be here in Uganda again. I was watching my last concert video here and it was such a memorable night. This will even be better,” he said. This is the third time Shaggy and Rayvon are coming to Uganda. Shaggy performed in Uganda in January and September 1998.

The star said he is not a woman freak but celebrates women and their sexuality. “It is not all about women because I have songs that touch other social aspects. I always avoid politics and religion because everybody has their own opinion,” he said.

Asked whether he would have enough time to perform all his songs, Shaggy’s reply was simple.: “I have two concerts. If you do not hear your favourite song on the first show, turn up for the second one, you will definitely get it there.”

Indeed the international superstar who was once a Marine and fought in ‘Operation Desert Storm’ when America drove Iraq out of Kuwait, will perform on New Year’s Eve and then on New Year’s Day in a family concert at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

In both shows, the gates will be opened at noon, to allow people enter with peacefully.

The family show tickets go for sh20, 000 for adults and sh10, 000 for children. Shaggy’s show is sponsored by Club Beer, Ange Mystique, Mango, Protector Condoms and Speke Resort, Munyonyo.

Shaggy was born Orville Richard Burrell in Kingston Jamaica on October 22, 1968 but released his first single, Man A Me Yard when he was just 22 years, after he had moved to Brooklyn in the US together with his parents.

In 1988, after battling the mean streets of Brooklyn, Shaggy decided to join the Marines and two years later, he was on the frontlines, fighting Saddam Hussein. “1991 was heard. Those days were really hard,” that’s all Shaggy could say at Munyonyo.

Shaggy found his groove after releasing Oh Carolina in 1991. The rest, as they say, is history.
